ABOUT THIS LUMINOUS LIFE
Hi, I’m Esther.
I’m the person behind This Luminous Life — a practice bringing together yoga, movement, meditation and whole person coaching to support people through the different seasons, transitions and challenges of life.
My work is rooted in a simple belief: we are whole people, not problems to be fixed.
I work with people navigating change, pressure, responsibility, recovery and growth — as well as those who simply want to feel more connected to themselves, their bodies and how they want to live.
My approach is practical, compassionate and grounded in both lived experience and evidence-informed practice. I draw on more than 20 years of corporate experience alongside extensive training and experience across yoga, movement, coaching, mindfulness, nervous system support and accessible practice.
MY WORK
My work brings together several strands that might, at first, seem quite different: yoga and movement, meditation and nervous system practices, whole person coaching, and wellbeing support for organisations.
At the heart of all of them is the same intention:
to create space for people to understand themselves more clearly, reconnect with their bodies and resources, and have more choice in how they respond to life.
This might be through:
-
Yoga and movement — from accessible and restorative practices to functional movement, sports yoga, aerial and more dynamic practices
-
Meditation, breathwork and Yoga Nidra — creating space to pause, regulate, restore and reconnect
-
Whole person coaching — supporting reflection, personal growth, decision-making and meaningful change
-
Specialist and inclusive support — adapting movement and wellbeing practices for different bodies, abilities, experiences and stages of life
-
Corporate wellbeing — helping organisations support sustainable performance, resilience and the wellbeing of their people
-
Practitioner mentoring — supporting yoga teachers and wellbeing practitioners as they develop their work and professional identity
HOW I WORK
I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.
You might need conversation. You might need movement. You might need stillness, challenge, rest or simply some space to think.
Sometimes we talk. Sometimes we move. Often it's a combination of both.
My approach draws on:
-
whole person coaching and reflective practice
-
nervous system and stress regulation
-
yoga, movement and breathwork
-
mindfulness and meditation
-
embodiment and interoceptive practices
-
trauma-informed principles
-
accessible and adaptive movement
-
I aim to meet people where they are, while helping them discover what might support them to move forward.
WHAT THIS CAN LOOK LIKE
People come to me for many different reasons.
You might be:
-
navigating a significant life change or transition
-
feeling stretched by work, family or other responsibilities
-
looking for greater clarity about what comes next
-
recovering from illness, injury or a demanding period of life
-
wanting to reconnect with your body after feeling disconnected from it
-
looking for movement that works with, rather than against, your body
-
wanting to build strength, mobility, confidence or resilience
-
supporting your mental and emotional wellbeing
-
seeking a more sustainable way of living and working
-
simply curious about what might be possible
There doesn't have to be something wrong for you to want something different.
Sometimes the most valuable work begins with simply asking:
What do I need now?
A PRACTICE BUILT ON MANY THREADS
My work has evolved over many years and through many different experiences.
I spent around 20 years working in the corporate world, which gave me a deep understanding of pressure, responsibility, performance and the realities of modern working life.
Alongside this, I have developed an extensive practice in yoga and movement, including specialist training in accessible yoga, yoga for anxiety, depression and PTSD, yoga for athletes, restorative yoga, aerial yoga, Yoga Nidra, mindfulness, breathwork and movement for strength, mobility and balance.
I have also trained in whole person coaching (ICF and IPHM), applied polyvagal theory, trauma-informed practice and a range of approaches that explore the relationship between body, mind, nervous system and lived experience.
This breadth is intentional.
People are complex. Your support should have breadth too.
OUTSIDE OF WORK
When I'm not teaching or working with clients, you'll usually find me:
-
upside down in an aerial sling or hoop
-
listening to my latest vinyl finds
-
reading
-
or spending time with my increasingly not-so-little family.
WHERE I WORK
I work with people in person across West Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, as well as online.
My current teaching and client work takes me to locations including Twyford, Caversham, Wallingford, Northend, Henley, Watlington, Princes Risborough and Streatley.
